Sunday Afternoon - Genre: Any - Categories: Showcase - Newbie - Skilled – Veteran

 

Prejudging:

This will occur before the contest (times tba) and will only include the categories: Newbie, Skilled, and Veteran. Please be in costume and prepped to answer any questions the judges may have. Reference Pictures are highly recommended.

 

Contest Rules:

  1. No Nudity

  2. All prop weapons must conform to Mobicon’s Weapons Policy.

  3. No Explosives, flash pots, projectiles, etc. If in doubt, please email eventsatgng@gmail.com for confirmation.

  4. Judging for Newbie, Skilled, and Veteran divisions will be done before the show and winners will be announced at the conclusions of the contests.

  5. Contestants can only enter One (1) costume per contest – this applies to groups as well. Group level is determined by the highest-level group member. Please keep in mind that only One (1) award is given per category, therefore, Mobicon is unable to offer prizes to all members of a group.

  6. No profanity or kitchen table talk (i.e. politics/religion/sex) while on stage. This includes any signage or messages on clothes. Skits are more than welcome!

 

Prizes:

Awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place of each category with One (1) Best in Show Award given for each contest.

Friday - Prejudging at 3pm - Show starts at 7:30pm

Best in Show Award also receives an Honorary Guest Invite for Mobicon 2024

Saturday - Kids Cosplay Contest starts at 3pm! Horror Costume Contest prejudging at 5pm - Show starts at 7:30pm

Best in Show Award also receives $100 in cash (but at 101 contestants it becomes $500!)

Sunday - Prejudging at 1pm - Show starts at 3pm

Best in Show Award also receives an Honorary Guest Invite for Mobicon 2024

Definitions:

Showcase – A costume that can be bought. Worn for ease and fun.

Newbie – A costume that is 40% or more made. Shows enthusiasm in their craft but still lacks craftsmanship and presentation. This could include but is not limited to frayed edges, poor/loose stitching, visible seams & hems, poorly fitted, improvised materials, etc.

Skilled – A costume that is 60% or more made. Shows dedication in their craft but lacks the finishing touches. This could include but is not limited to inconsistent stitching, loose fit, small details in the costume that make it pop, small inaccuracies, etc.

Veteran – A costume that is 80% or more made. Shows full comprehension in their craft with few inaccuracies and inconsistencies.

Best in Show Award – An award given to the contestant that got the best crowd response.
